Invisalign Clear Aligners have been clinically proven to effectively treat a wide variety of orthodontic problems such as:
Overbite
Underbite
Crossbite
Gap teeth
Open bite
Crowded teeth
Generally straighter teeth
For patients who are undergoing Invisalign treatment, they will be using virtually invisible aligners. These aligners are made of thermoplastic material, which are similar to teeth-whitening trays, but have a more rigid structure. Each aligner is custom-made to move your teeth. Over time in treatment, you will be given a series of aligners. Each aligner will make slight adjustments to the tooth position. These adjustments have been computerised and formulated in advance by Dentist Mandy specifically for you. When these aligners are placed on your teeth, your teeth will be gradually shifted from their original position. After 6 weeks, you will be given another set of aligners, which will continue the straightening and alignment of your teeth.
During your Invisalign assessment with us, you will receive a scan using our new iTero scanner to create a 3D digital impression of your teeth and bite. This latest technology uses a laser scanner which allows us to create a treatment plan that is accurate and customised to your orthodontic needs. The scan is quick, painless and radiation-free.
The Invisalign system straightens your teeth by using a series of clear removable trays that are customised to your teeth.
Unlike traditional braces where wires and metal brackets can interfere with flossing, brushing and eating – Invisalign trays can be easily removed so you can continue to clean your teeth as you would normally would.
Since the aligners are virtually invisible, most people will not even notice you are wearing an Invisalign tray.
Apart from having a more confident smile, having straighter teeth will make it easier to brush and floss and therefore reduce your risk of tooth decay and gum disease in the long term.
Patients usually experience temporary, minor discomfort when they wear their new set of aligners. However, this discomfort is short-term and is usually described as a pressure. This indicates slight alteration to the position of the teeth. The slight adjustments mean that Invisalign treatment is much less painful compared to traditional braces.
However, if you do experience mouth soreness and headaches from the pressure and discomfort, take ibuprofen or paracetamol to relieve your symptoms.
Invisalign aligners can be removed for normal brushing and flossing. This makes it easier to maintain good oral hygiene throughout the course of treatment compared to traditional braces.
Your aligners should be removed each time you eat. You will need to brush and floss your teeth after every meal and gently clean your aligners before putting them back on.
