At Dentist Mandy, we pride ourselves on being a female lead team and have been for the past 6 years! Dentistry has traditionally been a male dominated industry, however the percentage of female clinicians is on the incline! Dentist Mandy and her team are committed to providing non-judgemental care with open arms to their Bondi patients. Dentistry is all about establishing strong relationships and trust with patients, which women generally excel in. Women have the potential to flourish in the field of dentistry as they usually have maternal instincts and traits that assist in providing patient care, like being compassionate and empathetic. Female dentists tend to take extra time in addressing patient concerns and factor in external factors like finances, family issues and living circumstances. These factors are extremely important, especially in current uncertain times like the COVID pandemic, where individual circumstances can change daily.
Historically, women have faced a range of injustices and inequalities in the workforce, despite having the same level of education and skill sets as males. Female professionals were not generally respected as much as men and received a lower level of remuneration. The uprise of female lead companies and practices are inspiring young females and future generations to achieve greatness without the fear of being mansplained or judged for their abilities. Women in dentistry are shown to be active members of dental boards, allowing them to continually extend their knowledge and skills with contemporary research and treatment methods.

Hayley (Receptionist/Dental Assistant)
Working within an all female team is beneficial in various ways, aside from sharing similar interests with like-minded individuals. All of us at Dentist Mandy are very unique to one another but share a common goal of creating a safe and comfortable clinical environment. This enables everyone to feel comfortable enough to come forward when feeling uneasy, whether this is a patient or member of staff. Women tend to be less intimidating, making it people feel less embarrassed to reach out for help or speak up about personal issues.
Dr Mandy and her associate dentists inspire their team to continue learning, provide a wealth of knowledge and mentorship. We can identify the strengths and weaknesses of our colleagues, help encourage and empower each other to deliver the best quality care to our patients. As a current dental student, I value having Dr Mandy and associates as mentors, it’s great to have them offer their knowledge, advice and insight into their previous experience. Dr Mandy is very flexible and understanding in terms of my university timetabling and ever-changing scheduling.
Lucie (Dental Assistant/Security/HR)
The women working in dentistry help assist patients’ anxiety when visiting the dentist to ensure that a dental check up is no longer something to fear and provide incentive for patients to return for routine visits. Women tend to have an inclusive approach towards everyone, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Females make light work of dental procedures, they make dental check-ups comfortable for patients with their gentle touch and nimble hands, whilst providing a high quality of work.
Marketa (Dental Assistant)
Women are very good with verbal communication, which is beneficial when explaining intricate procedures and costs to their patients. Females approach touchy subjects in a friendly manner and continually display empathy. They also are compassionate, nurturing and show consideration within their dental practice. Women may also pay a little more attention to the fine details of the practice to create a less clinical feeling atmosphere. Female dentists seem to enjoy the artistic side of the profession, where they are able to sculpt and contour teeth restorations.
