At Dentist Mandy, we accept payment from all private health funds. We also offer HICAPS so you can claim from your health fund on the spot automatically, instead of paying us and claiming your benefits back from your health fund. So, remember to bring your private health insurance card when you visit us!
The amount your private health insurance will cover depends on your health fund provider and what is covered by your policy.
Some health insurance policies will not cover any dental treatment. You can refer to your policy to see what type of dental treatments will be covered and how much will be paid by your provider.
The difference between the costs of your dental treatment and the benefit paid by your private health insurer is referred to as ‘the gap’, which will be your out of pocket expenses.
The amount of gap you have to pay will depend on the dental treatment you need and the amount of benefits your private health insurer will pay.
Before or during your appointment, the dentist will give a break-down of the estimated cost of the recommended dental treatment. Using our HICAPS facility, we can get an immediate quote from your provider to determine how much your provider will pay and what your gap payment will be.
You can also contact your insurer about how much is likely to be covered by your private health insurance policy.
When you join a health fund or increase your level of cover, you may have to wait for some time before you are able to claim benefits. This waiting period may vary depending on the type of dental treatment. You should contact your health fund if you’re unsure if the waiting period applies to you.
If you forget to bring your private health insurance card, you will be required to pay for your treatment upfront and then submit a claim with your private health insurer.
